YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARDS

To promote young & upcoming scientists, ICOBM-2020 will have four (4) awards; one (1) for poster and three (3) for oral presentations.

Poster Presentation Award

 

Posters will be presented from Day-1 until Day-3

  1. This competition is open to undergraduate or postgraduate students, including those who have graduated not more than one year prior to the deadline for submitting abstracts.

  2. The entrant must be the senior author of the poster and be present to answer questions for a specified time during the assigned session.

  3. The work must represent original research completed and presented by the entrant.

  4. Students may enter only one poster in the competition.

  5. If an abstract is selected to be presented in an oral paper session, it will be disqualified from the poster award competition.

  6. Acceptance of an abstract for presentation is independent of acceptance as a competition finalist.

  7. Entrants who are eligible and chosen as finalists will be notified in advance of the event.

  8. Entrants must be registered for the event.

  9. Poster Size: Portrait - maximum 2 ft. (W) X 3 ft. (L)

 

 

Judging Process
All abstracts accepted for presentation and entered in the Student Poster Award competition will be reviewed by the Award Committee. Only eligible abstracts accepted for presentation as posters and entered in the competition will be judged. A panel of judges will evaluate the abstracts for the poster competition. The finalists will be notified in advance of the event.

 

The competing category is Food Microbiology

Winners will receive certificates and cash prizes (EUR 250 for 1st prize, EUR 150 for 2nd prize, EUR 100 for 3rd prize).

This award is sponsored by the International Committee on Food Microbiology and Hygiene (ICFMH).

Oral Presentation Award

 

  1. This competition is open to undergraduate or postgraduate students, including those who have graduated not more than one year prior to the deadline for submitting abstracts.

  2. The entrant must be registered for the conference and must be the presenter of his/her talk in any of the assigned session.

  3. The work must represent original research completed and presented by the entrant.

  4. Acceptance of an abstract for presentation is independent of acceptance as a competition finalist.

  5. Students may enter only one presentation in the competition.

  6. Entrants who are eligible and chosen for this competition will be notified in advance of the event.

 

Judging Process
•    All entries submitted will be reviewed by the Award Committee.
•    Eligible entrants will be selected and judged by a panel of judges during oral presentation. 

Judging Criteria
•    Scientific Merit of the Research: Scientifically sound and novel
•    Oral Presentation: Clarity, creativeness, ability to answer questions

 

The competing categories are: 

i) Food Microbiology, Science & Technology

ii) Agriculture & Animal Health

iii) Medical & Health

Winners in all categories will receive certificates and cash prizes (TWD 5,000 for 1st prize, TWD 2,500 for 2nd prize, TWD 1,000 for 3rd prize).
